We live in a city where it’s difficult to run more than a couple of miles before you meet a hill, but how often do you make yourself run up them with determination? Hill sessions aim to help you develop techniques that’ll help you improve your efficiency as well as giving you the opportunity to share the pain with others in your pace group!
We have a few areas where we’ve identified road hills that are appropriate to tackle and in the summer we try to use some of the hilly parkland in the area.
The usual plan is to divide into about four pace groups and warm up with a slowish run to the area, then tackling the hills following whatever format is appropriate for the area. We have set up Strava segments on many of our hills so you can track your efforts and compare them with other Smileys through the Smiley Paces Strava Club.
